Where in Rochester? I only ask because that's where I live.

I'm saving March for last too. I've heard that it's gets mad crowded in the summer. I've seen it too, using binoculars from Dix Mnt. All I saw were little white ants all over the summit! I'd say late fall, early winter or early spring, but those could be crowded too. But that's what I'm shooting for.

The pictures I've seen of crowding on the Marcy summit scare me! I've also heard that there are a lot of idiots who don't know the first thing about hiking (and Leave No Trace practices) up there. Early winter would be a nice time to climb it...I've got a new pair of snowshoes that I still need to break in!

Yea I've been think about a late fall/early winter sttempt on Marcy. But first I got to get all the others under my belt. ^_^ And yes there are morons and idiots hiking in the High Peaks. You just have to deal with them, the way you see fit. I'd love to lecture them all of LNT but then I'd never get to the summit. You can only do the best you can.

Heh, one time I stupidly said something to these two guys who threw their (empty) beer cans off the summit of Whiteface. They just laughed and threw more crap. I quickly realized that saying something was not going to make a dent in their idiotic ways. Sad to say, but I think Whiteface is sort of a lost cause.

Well they were drinking and they probably drove up the road. So they didn't have the whole experience of the mountain.

I climbed her from the slide! OMG! That was my own personal hell! But that is a different story!
